At Grebe Dentistry, we specialize in using Cone Beam Computed Tomography to give the highest value of service for our patients in the Greater Sudbury Area.

We are excited to announce that we are now taking referrals for CBCT scans at our Val Caron location and will soon be able to accommodate your referrals at our Chelmsford location.

How it works:

  • Cone-shaped beam: A cone-shaped X-ray beam is used to capture a wide area in a single rotation.
  • Multiple 2D images: The machine takes hundreds of 2D projections from different angles as it rotates around the patient.
  • 3D reconstruction: Specialized software combines these projections to create a detailed 3D digital volume of the scanned area.

What it shows:

CBCT scans provide detailed images of teeth, bone and nerve pathways. This allows us to see:

  • Teeth, jaw, and sinuses
  • Soft tissues and nerve pathways
  • Bone structure

Why dentists use it:

  • Comprehensive views: Provides a complete 360-degree view, making it easier to detect issues that may not be visible with standard 2D X-rays.
  • Enhanced precision: Allows for more accurate planning of complex dental procedures, such as dental implants, impacted wisdom tooth extractions, and orthodontic treatment.
  • Improved diagnosis: Helps identify the source of oral pain and evaluate conditions of the jaw, nerves, and nasal cavity.
